Insurance for Schengen visa area - Commencement date ( BUPA Group )

2.1 The insurance shall be valid if the premium has been paid prior to the commencement date. The insurance shall be effective in the period stated in the policy.

2.2 The right to compensation shall take effect when the insured leaves his / her country of residence and shall cease upon return to the country of residence. If the insurance is taken out after the insured has left the country of permanent residence, there is a waiting period of 3 days before the insurance takes effect. In the event of serious injury in connection with an accident the right to compensation shall, however, take effect concurrently with the commencement date of the insurance.

2.3 If the 1 month cover option has been chosen, the cover shall be valid only for trips of 1 month's duration, as a maximum, unless extra travel days have been purchased. If the 3 months cover option has been chosen, the cover shall be valid only for 3 months, as a maximum, within a 6 month period, unless extra travel days have been purchased. A month is defined as a period from for instance the 5th in one month up to and including the 4th in the following month.

Choice of cover

You can choose between 2 different options, depending on how long you are staying in the Schengen area:

Schengen visa area - trips up to a maximum of 1 month

Schengen visa area - trips up to 3 months (within a 6 month period)
